Summer 2011 Camp Line-Up for Girls & Boys

American Girl Camp-Julie & Ivy Ivy and Julie are the most recent American Girl Dolls to be featured at Wonderworks . This summer we will explore their world of 1974 with pet rocks, chocolate fondue and painting a beautiful wooden bed. We will also create a portable house and participate in activities that they would have had fun doing.We will also read their stories and go to the park to play kick ball, just like Julie and Ivy. Hand & Machine Sewing Have you ever wanted to learn how to sew or do you know how but want to do some more fun projects?. Join us as we enjoy some handsewing projects such as felt animals, a cool leggy doll that you will design clothes for, make a bag using the sewing machine and learn some basic embroidery stitches. Wood & Lego Construction Do you like to hammer, saw, nail and build things with wook? During this camp we will do all that, as well as paint our wook creations. Kids will learn basic skill, while ensuring safety measures. Our Lego building will consist of free form creations, specific challenges and group builds while under a time deadline. Fancy Nancy-Glitter, Glue & Glam Who doesn"t love Fancy Nancy? We sure do and will help you have fun being as fancy as she is! A tea party complete with the MOST outrageous hats and ourfits will be held. Extensive use of glitter and jewels is a must for all projects. Extreme Gross & Gooey Science Yuck gross, disgusting. Are these your favorite words? Good, then you will have a blast at gross and gooey science camp. We will discover why disgusting smells occur, amke our own slime, go looking for creepy, crawly bugs in dirt and more things that will make your hair stand on end. 1/2 Day Art Camps-Fabric Art or Sculpture & 3D In Fabric Art 1/2 day camp we will work on collage, weaving and sewing Japanese softies. We will also design and print our own fabric and sew a pillow with it. In Sculpture and 3D, we will be making large and small-scale sculptures using foam, paper, found objects and plaster. Pinkalicious For fans of the stories it seems a perfect fit for Wonderworks to have a camp that has to do with color, fun and whimsy! We will also be painting from Purplicious, making unicorns, princess hats and more from Goldicious,. Games and activities will also be a part of this whimsical week of coloricious fun! Creepy Crawly Bugs Do you love things that slither, hop, and chirp? Despite their small size, bugs offer a variety of artistic options. We can recreate them in clay, paper and recycled materials so they look really cool. We will also go to the park and hunt for bugs, and make a bughouse so we can collect them too. Swamp monsters will also rule when made out of plaster and grossed out by you! Bring a peanut free snack and drink. Grades K-5, July 5-8, 1-4pm 4 days $125

Animals & Art Animals are everywhere, and especialy at Wonderworks! We will create animal art in a variety of mediums from collage, clay, fabric and more. An oversized portrait of your favorite animal will be painted. A little mouse house will also be made and the interior decorated with hand designed wall paper, furniture and lots of imagination This is for the artist who loves animals. Interior Decorating & Design Have you ever wanted to redesign your room, but didn't think mom would like it? We will give you the chance to flex your design skills using a miniature model of what your room could look like if you were given the chance. You will creae your model to scale, make furniture, curtains and more, using form core, wood, fabric and a lot of imagination. We will also make real life accessories for your room like a mosaic lamp base, light switch plates, a garbage can made oout of magazines and a few other goodies. Disney Princess Mini-Camp Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel? Come dressed like your favorite girl everyday if yoou want! Do you like to dress up like these girls and to do things like they do? We will have our own princess week where we paint pottery, draw pictures, sing songs, and play in our own castle and more. What a great way to start off the summer? Ages 3-7. American Girl Doll Camp What fun we have playing and learning about our American Girl dolls! Each day we will learn about a new doll, play games that they played, create new friendships and amke cool crafts for our dolls. We will read from the American Girl books and create a scrapbook of our adventures . Please bring your best doll friend, a peanut free snack and a drink.

Parent's Saturday Night Out Give your parents a break for a night. Come to a fun filled night of crafts, snacks and a good time. We will make all the mess here instead of at your house! 2 or more kids from the same family take $5 off per child. Grades 1-6

Clay Time Hands on time with clay. Free form animals, coil pots and more can be made. It is just limited by your imagination! Sign-up for at least two sessions, so you can create and glaze your creations. Grades K-8 June 23, July 14, Aug. 4, Aug 18

Open Studio Open Studio time is available during the summer Monday-Friday
10am-4pm . You just drop in and paint pottery, do mosaics, collage pieces, stuff animals or paint wood birdhouses, trucks or trains. We charge a $5 sitting fee per participant plus the price of the projects. Prices start at $5 ranging up to $40/

Things to know about camp at Wonderworks Art Studio

Lunch Option
Are you staying for both the morning and afternoon sessions? If you are then please rigister for the lunch period 12-1pm. If you are attending either a morning or afternoon camp you can add the one hour lunch time to make pick-ups/drop-offs more convenient or just extend the fun a bit more!We go outside, weather permitting, and play a variety of games under supervision Please bring a peanut-free lunch and drink. $18 for all week

Snack Credits
When you register you can also put on a $10 snack credit so you don't have to worry about snack that week. We will provide a chilled bottle of water and choice of a bag of chips or candy each day. Snacks and waters are also sold individually and can be purchased by your child.

The grades listed reflect the upcoming school year. We often go outside, so wear appropriate shoes and bring or wear sunscreen. Preregistration is REQUIRED. Dropping in to attend camp can lead to disappointment if we do not have materials or personnel available. We do not prorate for days that will be missed or if you start camp late. Payment in full for the camp is required on month ahead, with a $50 deposit required to reserve your space. Fees are refundable if cancelled 5 days before the start of camp. Once a camp has begun there are no refunds or credits.
