Summer 2010 Camp Line-Up

Really Big and Amazing Art Camp - Join us for a fabulous week of art instruction at Wonderworks Art Studio. We will explore various mediums such as plaster, paper mache, wood, found materials and clay. Students will be amazed at the cool art items that they create while having fun at our studio. Bring a peanut free snack and lunch. Grades 1 st-8 th, June 21-25, August 23-27, 9-4pm, $ 295

Pop Art- Groovy crafts of the 60’s & 70’s Peace signs, macramé, tie-dye,pet rocks, soap on a rope…need we say more. Remember what fun you had creating these things; well your kids can experience all the excitement as well. Bring a peanut free snack and drink. Wood & Lego Camp For those who like to build with their hands and think, this is the ultimate experience. We will not only safely use hand tools to build free form and patterned designs out of wood, but we will also have thousands of Lego’s on hand and many different challenges. Grades 2-5, July 6-10, 9-12pm, Fee $ 160

The Art of Sewing- hand and machine Learning how to sew is a life skill and we make it fun and easy with some GREAT projects. Whether you have no knowledge or a little we will create a cute jean purse using embroidery techniques, a one-of-a kind pillowcase using the sewing machine, abstract painting and embellishment and a cute and cuddly stuffed animal of your own design. Hand and machine sewing taught, we provide the machines. Bring a peanut free snack. Grades 3 rd-8 th. Aug. 2-6, 1-4pm $ 175 space is limited to 10.

American Girls Outdoor Sports Adventure Hey, let’s go outside and play the games that the American Girl dolls played. Kit loved baseball, Molly - Capture the Flag, Felicity and Elizabeth - shuttlecock ( badminton) and croquet, Josefina – hide and go seek, Addy – jump rope. Not only will we play the games like they did, but also we will read their stories and make crafts to go along with them. All games will be held at the park on Lincoln next to the ice arena. CrAzY MiXEd Up CrAfT s Just like the name implies we are shaking things up this week with not your usual camp fare of crafts. A one-day will be dedicated to snowflakes, ice cubes and snow (in the summer)! Another day will do backwards crafts, we will mix-up mediums, paint upside down, draw with our opposite hand. Getting your brain to work it’s other side is a great way to enhance your creativity. You’ll be surprised at what you bring home and how you look at things after this camp. We’ll be full of surprises! Bring a peanut free snack. Grades 1-6, July 19-23, 1-4pm or Aug. 2-6, 9-12pm $ 170

Journey to Rainbow Land On a summer day you can meet all sorts of creatures on your way to Wonderworks Rainbow Land. Pixies and fairies might be along your path. Beautiful butterflies and majestic unicorns will come with us as well. And because it’s at Wonderworks we will be creating all these glorious creatures from stuffed animals, paper, colored tissue paper, plaster and more. We will even be making our own board game as well. Bring a peanut free snack. Grades k-6, July 19-23 9-12pm or Aug. 16-20 1-4pm $ 160

Summer 2010- Fun In The Sun Crafts Do you just love making things? If you do this is the place for you. T-shirts decorated with paint filled squirt guns, sun pictures, spin art and more will be featured this week. Even a trip to the park for our own squirt gunfight! This is going to be FUN with lots of varied projects. Grades k-7, July 26-30, 1-4pm or Aug. 9-13, 1-4pm $160

Undersea Adventure Fish, whales, octopi and more interesting water creatures will be the focus of this wet week! We will create mosaic fish that will impress your whole family, decorate a miniature fish tank, make a yarn octopus and design our own sea creature out of found materials, plaster and paint. Bring a peanut free snack. Grades k-7, July 12-16 1-4pm $ 160

Wood and Lego Building Camp Do you love hammering, sawing and creating with wood? If you do this is the camp for you. We will create a variety of objects such a floating water craft, a useful picture frame and of course the ever popular freeform design. With the Legos we will have challenges, both individual and group as well as free time to create. Boys and Girls welcome. Bring a peanut free snack and drink. Grades 3-8, July 12-16 9-12pm $160

Bow Meow Camp If you’ve been at the studio you’ve seen our dog Georgie. She inspired us to create a camp just for dog and cat lovers. In this camp your child will learn about rescue animals and also about training animals while still incorporating crafts along the way. We will be making fun cuddly crafts like stuffed dogs and cats. We will also be creating dog bones to give away to the shelters, as well as have an expert come in and talk to us about the proper care and maintenance of our pets. Bring a photo of your favorite animal and we’ll also turn that into a beautiful piece of frameable art. Please bring peanut free snacks only! Grades k-8. July 6-9, 9-12pm(4 days)$136

Meet Rebecca, an American Girl Each year we pick a doll to highlight and this year it is Rebecca, the latest A.G. Doll. We will recreate her life from 1904 by making a portable house, see the way she lived by having jobs and creating products to trade and barter with. It’s a lot of playtime and fun time with each other as we see how she lived while playing with our dolls. Please feel free to bring whichever doll you have, all are welcome. We will we learn about the different dolls and do games, activities and projects for them, but we will also be making a cute wooden desk and chair set. Please bring a peanut free snack. Grades k-6, July 6-10 1-4pm or Aug. 16-20, 9-12pm $175

IMPORTANT NOTES RE: CAMPS –
You can stay all day with us; just add $15 to your total for lunch supervision for the week.
Please bring a peanut free snack and drink for 1/2-day camps. Grades listed reflect the upcoming year. We often go outside, so wear appropriate shoes and bring or wear sunscreen. Preregistration is REQUIRED. Dropping in to attend camp can lead to disappointment if we do not have space or materials available. We do not prorate for days that will be missed or if you start camp a day late. Payment in full for the camp is required one month ahead, with a $50 deposit required to reserve your space. Fees are refundable if cancelled 5 days before the start of camp. Once a camp has begun there are no refunds or credits.
